Born in St. Alexis des Monts in the Matapédia Valley, Gérard Gallant opened and operated its very first restaurant, Le Pavillon, in Nominingue, in the Laurentians, from 1958 to 1965.
From 1965 to 1972 he operated Le Gallant restaurant and bar on Cremazie boulevard in Montreal.
His love of country life was such that, in 1972, he bought an old farm house in Ste-Marthe de Vaudreuil and converted it in a small country Inn that became the now famous Auberge des Gallant. We are celebrating this year our 35th anniversary!
In the year 2000, Gérard Gallant decided to build la Sucrerie des Gallant to accommodate maple product lovers and offer a beautiful decor for marriages and receptions of all kinds.
From his native Matapédia, he brought back a love for smoked salmon, lobster bisque, calf sweetbread and various fish which he prepares for the sheer delight of his customers and which made his reputation.
The time nearing for him to finally relax, he is training his son Neil to replace him and continue his dream of success.
